Alex Jones Ordered To Pay $100k In Sandy Hook Legal Fees

The decision came from a Texas court where Jones is being sued in a defamation case.

NEWTOWN, CT — Infowars founder Alex Jones was ordered by a Texas judge to pay more than $100,000 in legal fees related to a defamation lawsuit over the Sandy Hook school shooting.

The judge ruled that Jones and his lawyer disregarded court orders to produce witnesses and other material, according to the New York Times.

Neil Heslin, whose son Jesse Lewis was among the shooting victims sued Jones and alleged that he defamed families by calling them "crisis actors." Infowars is based in Texas.

A separate defamation lawsuit was filed in Connecticut courts. Jones' lawyer Norm Pattis has appealed a decision to the state Supreme Court. A Superior Court judge had ordered Jones to pay some legal fees to the opposing counsel in that case and also denied Jones' request to dismiss the lawsuit.The decision came after an on-air rant from Jones, for which the judge chastised Jones.

The state Supreme Court's ruling is pending.
