The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
I believe Newtown has been well-served under Democratic leadership for the past four years. We are on solid financial footing, and have been able to absorb significant uncertainty during the pandemic without raising taxes. I believe we should continue making sound, long-term investments in our infrastructure and roads, and and most importantly our schools.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
Instead of focusing on differences, I'd like to focus on common ground. I'm honored to be running with two other fantastic candidates for Legislative Council from District 3: Michelle Embree Ku and Chris Smith. Michelle, Chris and I share a deep dedication to Newtown, and if elected, and will work as a team to represent our district.
Accomplishments:
My experience on the Legislative Council has been an education in how municipal governments work, and I look forward to leveraging this experience going forward. I've served as Vice Chair of the Finance and Administration Subcommittee, as well as on the Education Subcommittee. In all of these capacities, I've worked collaboratively with colleagues from both parties to advance our shared goal of making Newtown the best possible community to live, work, and raise a family, and for all of its residents.
Other issues:
- Dedication to making responsible, long-term investments in our schools and infrastructure
- Commitment to making decisions on local policy that are backed by science and prioritize public health
- Supporting tax incentives to bring businesses to town, and creating jobs and driving traffic to our retail and restaurant destinations
