In 2007, Connecticut lost a hero. US Navy SEAL Jason Lewis, a Brookfield native lost his life while serving his country in Baghdad. There will be an event to honor him at the Farmhouse Restaurant in Newtown on Monday, March 19th.
The Hometown Foundation has partnered with Farmhouse Restaurant to host an event, where proceeds will be used to purchase a Police K-9 and a memorial bench in his name.
“He had an incredible personality that would light up a room,” said his mother, Jean Mariano. “He was never going to be a nine to five guy. I couldn’t be prouder of the way he turned out. He had the right stuff.” Navy SEAL Petty Officer Lewis was full of energy and loved rock climbing, bicycling, and fly fishing among other outdoor sports. He dreamed of being a Navy SEAL since he was in high school. Lewis received multiple commendations and medals for his service to our country.
