NEWTOWN, CT — A widespread power outage has knocked out traffic lights at multiple intersections in Newtown, police said.
The outage is affecting signals across town, according to a notice from the Newtown Police Department.
Public Works crews are working to deploy temporary stop signs while the issue is being addressed, police said.
Drivers are being urged to treat any intersection with a non-functioning traffic light as a stop sign.
It was not immediately clear what caused the outage or when power would be fully restored.
