NEWTOWN, CT — A water main replacement project is set to begin in Newtown next month, with work expected to continue into the fall.

Aquarion Water Company said construction is scheduled to start in early May on Mile Hill Road. The project will then move to Pecks Lane, Queen Street and South Main Street.

Crews will replace about 6,675 feet of water main as part of ongoing efforts to improve system reliability and reduce leaks, the company said.

The work is expected to be completed by October, with final paving scheduled afterward in coordination with the town.

Drivers can expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during construction hours, which are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., officials said.

Residents can sign up for alerts about construction updates through Aquarion's notification system.
