NEWTOWN, CT — A new bar and grill offering stacked burgers, dozens of wing flavors and a sports bar atmosphere has opened in Newtown and will celebrate its grand opening later this month.
jjStacks, located at 71 South Main St. in the former Eggs & Co. space, is set to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 18, town officials said.
The restaurant is owned by Joe Attonito, who has more than 30 years of experience in food service and previously operated the Stacks Mobile food truck. The Newtown location marks the brand’s first brick-and-mortar restaurant.
The menu includes more than 100 varieties of wings, a range of burgers, sandwiches and wraps, as well as specialty items like a “Grand Slam Burger Challenge” featuring multiple beef patties, bacon, cheese and a large portion of fries.
Beer and wine are currently available, with full bar service expected in the future. The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Newtown Economic and Community Development Director John Voket said the new location builds on the brand’s popularity from its mobile operation.
“This is something Attonito has been working toward for some time,” Voket said. “He has already built a strong following locally, and this new location gives him a permanent presence in a well-traveled area.”
Town officials and members of the Economic Development Commission are expected to attend the ribbon-cutting.
