The Newtown Police Department said Blue McGrath was returned safely to her mother on the evening of May 7 and the Silver Alert has since been canceled.

Police said Blue had been missing with her father, Brennan McGrath, who authorities said was uncooperative with police and court-ordered custody arrangements.

According to the original alert issued May 6, Brennan McGrath allegedly kept the child away from her mother “for an extended period of time” and was accused of violating a temporary child custody order.

Police said the child’s father is now wanted on charges including custodial interference. Authorities said the department has an active arrest warrant and is working to locate him.
