NEWTOWN, CT — A Hartford Superior Court judge has ordered the public release of edited video depicting the final moments before an inmate died after a confrontation with correction officers, according to a report.
The video is central to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of J'Allen Jones, who died following a struggle with correction officers during a strip search at Newtown's Garner Correctional Institution in 2018, according to the News-Times.
The state had sought to keep the footage sealed, but a judge ruled an edited version should be made public.
