NEWTOWN, CT — Drivers in Newtown will face a weekend-long highway closure later this month as work continues on an $8.1 million Connecticut Department of Transportation project.
The Exit 9 on-ramp to I-84 eastbound from Route 25 will close at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, and remain closed until 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, according to CTDOT.
Motorists will be directed to follow a posted detour or seek alternate routes while the ramp is closed.
The closure is part of CTDOT Project No. 0096-0208, which was awarded to Richards Corporation in January for about $8.14 million. The project is scheduled to be completed Oct. 3, 2027.
CTDOT warned that the closure schedule could be modified or extended due to weather or other unforeseen conditions. Drivers traveling through the area are advised to maintain a safe speed.
