โข Newtown BOE Backs New 6-8 Middle School As Part Of Major Facilities Overhaul (patch.com) โ Newtown's Board of Education is backing a proposal for a new grades 6โ8 middle school, a move that could significantly reshape how students are spread across Reed Intermediate, Newtown Middle, and Middle Gate schools. With nearly $100 million in identified capital needs and looming capacity pressures, officials are weighing whether shifting sixth grade and possibly reconfiguring Reed and Middle Gate can solve long-term space and infrastructure challenges.

โข Newtown joins list of CT towns pausing Flock cameras amid privacy concerns (ctpost.com) โ Newtown officials have paused the use and installation of Flock license plate cameras after resident pushback and unanswered questions about how the technology is used, citing concerns over privacy and public trust. The Legislative Council and police leadership say they'll work with residents and elected officials to decide the future of automated license plate readers while other Connecticut towns also reconsider similar systems.

โข 14th Newtown Arts Festival, September 18-20 At Fairfield Hills (newtownbee.com) โ Newtown's 14th annual Arts Festival is set for September 18โ20 at Fairfield Hills, starting with a Concert Under the Stars and continuing with two full days of music, dance, and art. Residents can enjoy food trucks, a wine and beer garden, more than 60 artisans, and performances including the Newtown High School Marching Band, with proceeds supporting local arts scholarships and grants.
