Newtown Man Charged With Stealing 11 Firearms: Police

The 55-year-old also faces burglary, larceny and protective order violation charges, according to Newtown police.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown man has been arrested on charges that include stealing 11 firearms, according to police.

Robert Gertsch, 55, was taken into custody Aug. 21 on an outstanding warrant stemming from a May 16 investigation on Ferris Road, according to Newtown police.

Gertsch was arrested on 11 counts of stealing a firearm, as well as charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree larceny and violation of a protective order, police said.

Police did not provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged thefts in the report.

Gertsch was held on $50,000 bond and transported to Danbury Superior Court on Aug. 21, according to police.
