NEWTOWN, CT — A new restaurant and gathering place offering everything from morning coffee and breakfast to dinner, drinks and live entertainment is celebrating its grand opening in Newtown.
Two Hounds Public House, located at 43 South Main St., will hold a ribbon-cutting celebration at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, according to Newtown Economic and Community Development officials.
Co-owner James Molina recently completed extensive renovations and redesigned the former Farmhouse Restaurant space with the goal of creating a welcoming gathering place.
"We are more than a coffee shop, bakery, café, restaurant, pub or bar," Two Hounds said in describing the new business. "We bring all of those experiences together under one roof so our guests can make us part of their entire day."
The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with small plates and appetizers. Its drink offerings include coffee, tea, lattes and espresso as well as beer, wine and a full bar.
The space features couches and chairs, café tables, bar seating and traditional restaurant tables.
Two Hounds says its menu emphasizes homemade food without processed ingredients and that it does not charge extra for gluten-free or vegetarian options.
The restaurant has already been welcoming customers during a soft-opening period. The Sept. 11 event will mark its official grand opening, with First Selectman Bruce Walczak, town economic development staff and others expected to attend.
Two Hounds is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
