Dogs Alert Newtown Homeowner To Overnight Electrical Fire: Officials

NEWTOWN, CT — A homeowner's dogs alerted him to an electrical fire at a Newtown home overnight, helping catch the flames before they spread, according to Botsford Fire Rescue.

Botsford firefighters and Newtown Hook & Ladder responded to the private residence after the dogs alerted the homeowner that something was wrong, fire officials said.

The homeowner was able to knock down the flames using fire suppression equipment kept at the home. Firefighters said the flames did not extend to the rest of the house.

Crews isolated power to the home and requested Eversource respond, according to Botsford Fire Rescue.
