8 Newtown Open Houses This Weekend: Designer Home, Private Ponds And More

Eight Newtown and Sandy Hook homes hold open houses Oct. 10-11, from $119,000 mobile homes to a $1.4 million Poverty Hollow Colonial.

NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown's open houses this weekend run from four brand-new mobile homes in Black Bear Village at $119,000 to a Poverty Hollow Colonial with an en-suite bath for every bedroom. In between are a Taunton-area home that a prominent interior designer built for himself, with a pond and footbridge, and a 9.5-acre property with its own pond.

Eight homes in Newtown and Sandy Hook are holding open houses Saturday, Oct. 10, and Sunday, Oct. 11, with prices from $119,000 to $1.4 million, according to Zillow.com.

Saturday, Oct. 10

16 Ardi Court #16, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., $515,000. In the heart of Sandy Hook, within walking distance of its shops and cafes, this 2017 end-unit townhouse has two upstairs bedrooms with their own full baths and a third bedroom on the lower level. It's a three-bedroom, 2.5-bath condo with 1,568 square feet; the HOA fee is $374 a month.

Sunday, Oct. 11

152 Head of Meadow Road, noon to 3 p.m., $1,125,000. A prominent interior designer created this Taunton-area home as his personal residence, according to the listing. It sits among mature trees, stonework, designed gardens and a pond with a footbridge. It's mostly one-level, with a family room with a stone fireplace and a primary suite with a dramatic stone fireplace wall. A separate in-law setup has its own kitchen. It's a four-bedroom, three-bath home with 3,021 square feet on 1.25 acres.

2 Hopewell Road, noon to 3 p.m., $895,000. Listed Oct. 7, this renovated 1981 contemporary sits on a bluff overlooking its own pond on 9.51 acres. The listing says the land could be subdivided to create a two-acre lot for another home. It's a four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home with 3,094 square feet, plus a 500-square-foot addition the listing says isn't counted.

Four new mobile homes in Black Bear Village at 55 Sugar St. are open Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Each has new appliances and a washer-dryer hookup, and the $585 monthly lot rent covers land, common-area maintenance, water, sewer and trash, according to the listings.

55 Sugar St. #21, 1 to 3 p.m., $119,000. A one-bedroom, one-bath mobile home with 550 square feet.

55 Sugar St. #23, 1 to 3 p.m., $119,000. A one-bedroom, one-bath mobile home with 550 square feet.

55 Sugar St. #66, 1 to 3 p.m., $159,000. A two-bedroom, one-bath mobile home with 650 square feet.

55 Sugar St. #68, 1 to 3 p.m., $159,000. A two-bedroom, one-bath mobile home with 650 square feet.

5 Wentworth Drive, 1 to 3 p.m., $1.4 million. On a Poverty Hollow cul-de-sac, this 2004 Colonial has custom millwork throughout, a great room with a coffered ceiling and a stone fireplace, and a cherry kitchen with a six-burner Viking range. A first-floor primary suite has a whirlpool tub, and every bedroom has its own bath. It's a five-bedroom, 4.5-bath home with 5,711 square feet on 2.14 acres.

Make a weekend of it: Sandy Hook's townhouse has Saturday morning to itself. Sunday at noon, Head of Meadow Road's gardens and Hopewell Road's pond both open, and from 1 p.m. you can tour Black Bear Village and finish at Wentworth Drive.
