NEWTOWN, CT — A new barbershop is opening in Sandy Hook Village Center, bringing a familiar local connection to the business.
1711 Barbers & Co., located on the lower rear level of 111 Church Hill Road, will celebrate its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 3:30 p.m., according to Newtown's Department of Economic and Community Development.
The shop features barber Matt Gaudio, who learned his skills from his uncle Frank at Village Barber Shop on Queen Street in Newtown.
Under his uncle's guidance, Gaudio developed an appreciation for quality service and discovered his passion for barbering, according to the town.
The new business combines traditional barbering practices with a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere, offering haircuts and personalized service.
The ribbon-cutting is one of several events planned by Newtown's Department of Economic and Community Development to celebrate newly opened businesses.
First Selectman Bruce Walczak and town economic development officials are expected to participate in the celebrations.
The public is invited to attend the Nov. 10 ceremony.
