Animal Shelter in Need of Cat Supplies
'We are asking for our shelter friends to help us, so we can help our community...'
NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Animal Control Shelter has just taken in 20 owner-surrendered cats "due to unforeseen circumstances" and has reached out to the town on social media for assistance.
"We are providing support to one of the families while they take care of their remaining cats. Our hope is to transition them to the shelter. So, with that said, we are asking for our shelter friends to help us, so we can help our community," the shelter posted on Facebook.
The shelter is looking for the following items:

- Cat litter, any kind
- Dry cat food, Rachael Ray, any flavor
- Canned cat food, any kind
- i/d cat food for seniors or special needs
- Cat treats
- Dawn dish detergent
- Laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- 30-gallon trash bags
- Used fleece blankets
- Used towels and rags
The Newtown Animal Control Shelter is located on 21 Old Farm Road in Newtown.
