Assault, Strangulation, Among Charges Against Newtown Man: Police

A Newtown man found sleeping in a vehicle has been charged with assault, strangulation and breach of peace.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown man found sleeping in a vehicle has been charged with assault.

Newtown police officers were dispatched to the area of 36 Tunnel Road for a report of an unknown person sleeping in a motor vehicle Wednesday evening.

During the on-scene investigation that followed, police say they discovered that the man was Joshua Adams, 32, of Orchard Hill Road. According to police, there was an outstanding domestic violence arrest warrant for Adams, and he was taken into custody.

Adams was charged with third-degree assault, third-degree strangulation, second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer. He was held in lieu of a court set bond of $25,000, which he was unable to post, according to police, and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Aug. 3.
