Town Players of Newtown announces auditions for MOUSETRAP by Agatha Christie on Sunday and Monday, July 24 & 25, from 7-9 PM.
In this classic mystery, a group of strangers is trapped in a boarding house during a snow storm. Just as Detective Sergeant Trotter, who is traveling on skis, arrives at the boarding house, murder occurs. Among the suspects are the newly married couple who run the house, a spinster with a curious background, an architect whose talents are better directed in the kitchen, a retired Army major, a peculiar man who claims his car has overturned in a snow drift, and a jurist who isn’t happy unless he’s making life miserable for everyone else. As the detective investigates the death, he probes the background of everyone present, rattling a lot of skeletons in the process.
With the longest initial run of any play in history, MOUSETRAP’s original West End cast included Richard Attenborough as Detective Sergeant Trotter, and his wife Sheila Sim as Mollie Ralston.
Gene Golaszewski of Brookfield will direct.
The production calls for five men and three women. Actors should have a passable English accent. If possible, actors should read the play in advance and be ready to read sides from the script. No appointment is necessary. All roles are available. Character descriptions are available at newtownplayers.org.
Rehearsals begin in August, and the production runs Friday and Saturday evenings, September 30 – October 22, with two Sunday matinees.
Auditions will take place at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road, Newtown.
