BREAKING: Sandy Hook Gun Manufacturer Lawsuit Trial Date Set, 'Discovery' to Start Immediately

Tuesday's developments follow a decision from Judge Bellis to deny the gun companies' motion to dismiss the case.

SANDY HOOK, CT — Two major developments took place at Tuesday's status conference on the Sandy Hook litigation regarding for the Sandy Hook families suing the manufacturer of the gun used to kill 20 students and six educators on December 14, 2012:

  • Connecticut State Judge Barbara Bellis set trial for April 3, 2018
  • Judge Bellis ruled that the discovery process will begin immediately

According to BerlinRosen attorneys, "discovery" means the gun companies will need to make their executives available for depositions and share internal documents about the marketing of their products.

"This marks another major victory for families of the victims in their effort to hold gun companies responsible for the Sandy Hook massacre," Leslie Patterson of BerlinRosen said in a statement.

The families are being represented by Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder.
