Brush Fires Prompt Road Closures In Newtown, Bethel: Police

NEWTOWN, CT — Brush fires prompted road closures in parts of Newtown and Bethel on Thursday, according to police.

Mt. Pleasant Road is closed in Newtown in the area of Blackman and near the Bethel town line due to a brush fire, police said.

In Bethel, Stony Hill Road (Route 6) is also closed near the Newtown town line as crews respond to an active brush fire, according to Bethel police.

Officials are urging drivers to avoid the affected areas, seek alternate routes and expect delays.
