Cat Dies In Newtown House Fire: FD

NEWTOWN, CT — Crews from multiple fire companies battled a blaze on Berkshire Road early Thursday morning that took the life of the family cat.

There were no other injuries, but one firefighter suffered a "medical event," according to a Facebook post from Botsford Fire Rescue.

"He was assessed and treated by Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the paramedic," Botsford Fire said. "Fortunately, he is okay and did not require transport."

All five Newtown fire companies responded to the report of a structure fire at 3:35 a.m.

"All individuals evacuated the building and the Fire Marshall’s office is still investigating at this time," a Facebook post from Newtown Hook & Ladder said.
