Coronavirus CT: Department Of Correction Employee Tests Positive

NEWTOWN, CT — A state Department of Correction employee tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to officials. The employee worked at Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown and has been self-monitoring at home since March 18. The test results came back positive Monday.
The affected employee last entered the facility on March 17.
Going forward all people entering a DOC facility will have to pass a wellness screening including a temperature check.

No other staff members or prisoners have shown symptoms related to coronavirus, DOC officials said in a release.
