Driver Charged After Driving Wrong-Way On I-84, Crashing Into Car

Ney Carrasco-Guerrero of Danbury was charged with operating while under the influence following the Friday night crash.

NEWTOWN, CT — A man is facing charges after authorities said he crashed into a car Friday night while driving the wrong way on Interstate 84 near Newtown.

Ney Carrasco-Guerrero, 26, of Danbury, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, operating while under the influence, resisting arrest, and other counts following the incident.

According to police, Carrasco-Guerrero was driving the wrong way on Interstate 84 westbound when he collided with the driver's side mirror of an oncoming car. Carrasco-Guerrero did not stop, police said, and was located by authorities on Exit 11 near Mile Hill Road a short time later.

No one was injured in the crash, police said.

Police arrested Carrasco-Guerrero and took him to Bridgeport Correctional Center. His bond was set at $50,000.

Carrasco-Guerrero is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Monday.
