NEWTOWN, CT — A driver was seriously injured and had to be extricated from their car Friday morning after crashing into a pole in Newtown, according to Botsford Fire Rescue.

The crash occurred on Swamp Road, where officials found the car heavily damaged and the driver pinned down by the door and dashboard, according to officials.

Rescuers first removed the passenger-side door, then lifted the dashboard before pulling the car off the pole and removing its roof, officials said.
