DUI Crash Damages Mailboxes, Gas Line In Newtown: Police

A Stratford woman was charged with drunken driving after the crash, police said.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Stratford woman was charged with drunken driving after a crash in Newtown that damaged multiple mailboxes and a gas line, according to police.

Officers responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident at about 11:03 p.m. April 24 in the area of Jeremiah Road in Sandy Hook, police said.

According to police, a 2017 Mazda CX-3 struck mailboxes at two homes as well as a grounded gas line.

Following an investigation and field sobriety testing, the 36-year-old woman was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane, police said.

She was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on May 5, police said.
