Edmond Town Hall Theater in Newtown To Go Dark for 4 Weeks
All other building activities, including space and event rentals, will continue as usual.

NEWTOWN, CT —The Edmond Town Hall Theater will go dark for four weeks, the venue has announced on its website.
The theater will take that time, beginning March 11, to repair or replace various theater and staging components, including rigging, curtains and railings among other things. While dark, all theater activities, including movies, will cease. All other building activities, including space and event rentals, will continue as usual.
A “Dark Night Cabaret” series is being planned for four Fridays in March in the Alexandria Room. “Dark Night” is a nod to the theater’s past, when it would go dark one night each week to replace the movie reels in preparation for the upcoming movie. The building’s stage, located in the Alexandria banquet hall, will feature local performers and musicians.

“Dark Night Cabaret is a way to continue to bring the community together for entertainment, just in a different space and format,” said Sheila Torres, the building’s operations manager, on its website.
Theater officials hope that the repairs will also improve the facility’s ability to host more live performances, provide new offerings to audiences, and help to grow attendance.
