Educational Playcare Announces Administration Team For New School

Educational Playcare, a leader in providing high quality child care to families in Connecticut for over 30 years, is pleased to announce that Nikole Torres has accepted the position of Director and Keisha Ward has accepted the position of Assistant Director for their newest location on Sawmill Road in Newtown, CT.

Nikole has been working in early childhood education since 2001. Prior to becoming the Center Director in Newtown, Nikole was the Director of our Oxford location. Prior to that she was an Assistant Director and spent time working with various age groups, ranging from infants through school-aged children. Nikole has an associate’s degree in early childhood education and a bachelor’s degree in psychology of youth and children.

Nikole believes in working collaboratively with children, families, and teachers to provide a fun, safe, and nurturing environment. She believes children learn in a variety of ways and therefore our curriculum and teaching methods should be intentional and reflective of that.

In her spare time, Nikole enjoys spending time with her family, as well as kayaking, painting, and reading.

Keisha has been working with children between the ages of 6 weeks and 14 years since 2008. She has held various positions including an infant program floater, a toddler lead teacher, a preschool lead teacher, and most recently the lead Pre-k teacher and program lead for the Preschool/Pre-K department. Keisha holds a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and Family Relations from the University of Maine, Orono and a Master’s Degree in Care and Education in Early Childhood Settings from Wheelock College.

Keisha has always had a passion for working with children. She understands how important it is to encompass the whole child when teaching which means getting to know the multiple parts of who they are in order to create effective learning experiences. She believes there's no better way to do this than through play!

In her spare time Keisha enjoys spending time with her fiancé, her family and friends, trying out new restaurant spots, and traveling.

The newest Educational Playcare School is located at 2 Sawmill Road in Newtown, CT and is scheduled to be open Monday, August 20th. Educational Playcare will be hosting Open Houses each Saturday beginning August 11th through September 1st.
