On Saturday, November 13th from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown, CT will be hosting, "Closing the Gap: The Invitation to Intimacy with God", led by the Rev. Martin Smith.
In this quiet day we will take some of the lessons we learn from the rewards and struggles of human intimacy and use them to gain a better understanding of our relationship with God. In times of reflection and prayer we will explore ways of experiencing God's closeness, and steps we can take to get over the inhibitions and misconceptions that can make God seem distant.
Martin L. Smith has been a priest for thirty-eight years and is well known throughout the Episcopal Church as a writer and teacher, dedicated to exploring a contemporary spirituality that is open to new knowledge as well as the riches of the mystical tradition. He has reached a wide audience through such books as A Season for the Spirit, The Word is Very Near You, Reconciliation. His latest book is Compass and Stars. Martin serves as Senior Associate Rector at St Columba's, in Washington, D.C.
