On March 3, Extreme Fitness Martial Arts will celebrate its first anniversary of bringing its unique and diverse mix of fitness and martial arts to Newtown. Since opening in early 2011, Extreme Fitness Martial Arts has grown to more than 150 students practicing the arts of Karate, Muay Thai Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
“We’ve seen tremendous growth in our first year,” said Russ Moore, owner and school Master. “I attribute our success to two things. First, total focus on our primary goal to provide the best fitness and martial arts program in Connecticut. Second, listening to our students and continually looking for ways to optimize our business operations. This includes everything from the high standard of classes and curriculum we offer, to the way we efficiently streamline our systems. This serves our students well and ensures we devote more time to what they want us to do, which is to improve their overall fitness and transform them into martial artists.”
In addition to meeting the needs of their students, Extreme Fitness Martial Arts places a high priority on supporting the wider community. In addition to the food drive they are running for The Jericho Partnership, the school is also supporting their local Newtown community. As part of this, the company is pledging a minimum of one hour of community service for every person that attends their March 3 anniversary party.

“The event is going to be an amazing showcase of what our school offers,” said Moore. “We’ll have demonstrations of kickboxing, jiu-jitsu and kid’s karate, as well as free food, prizes to be won and fun games for the kids. There’s going to be lots to see and do and we want to welcome as many people as possible.”
The event will run from 2-5pm on Saturday, March 3 at Extreme Fitness Martial Arts, 266 South Main Street, Newtown.
