Schools

Festivals and Seasonal Nature Tables

Part of the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School’s  WALDORF AT HOME series of classes.

The 14 C. Old French adjective festival, meaning "suitable for a feast, solemn, magnificent, joyful, happy," truly describes the experience that Waldorf schools have striven to give to their students. In this workshop learn how these meaningful celebrations foster a sense of well-being and hope in children, and in all who participate, by strengthening the bonds of family and community while giving spiritual context to the events of our daily lives.

This workshop will also give practical advice for bringing the festivals into your home through seasonal activities and by creating a seasonal table which will keep these feelings of "solemnity, magnificence, joy and happiness" alive on a daily basis. Be inspired to create your own versions of the festivals of the year, and empowered to incorporate celebrations from other cultures or epochs into your home life.
