Genealogy Club of Newtown Meeting

Noted Genealogical Researcher Marilyn Giese to speak on “Digging up the Dead” at Booth Library on June 6.

Highly regarded genealogical researcher Marilyn Giese will be the guest speaker of the Newtown Genealogy Club at 7 PM on Wednesday, June 6 at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, Newtown.  

Due to a scheduling conflict at the library, this is a change of date from the club’s usual second Wednesday of the month meeting schedule.  This is also the last meeting until September.  The club does not meet in July and August. 

Ms Giese’ intriguing topic is “Digging up the Dead”, not literally we hope!  Well known in professional genealogical circles, Ms Giese, who lives in Connecticut, is a member of the Genealogical Speakers’ Guild, the National Genealogical Society and the New England Historical Genealogical Society.

Ms Giese specializes in 17^th, 18^th and 19^th Century Colonial period Emigration and Immigration, as well as Federal Records, Land Records and Scottish Clans.  She holds a BA degree in Education and an MA in Public Administration.

Newtown Genealogy Club is open to anyone interested in genealogical research, and it supports the efforts of Booth Library and assists in the upkeep of the library’s genealogical room and extensive collections.  Nonmembers are always welcome at the lectures and meetings, which always include a question and answer session.
