Have fun, create and design your own hypertufa planters. The hypertufa planter's shape is going to be dependent upon the mold you choose. Along with this consideration, please keep in mind the plants you wish to plant in it.You have two options in mold making:You can cover the exterior sides and bottom with the 'tufa mixture; orYou can cover the interior sides and bottom of your mold with your mixtureKeep this "interior / exterior" issue in mind, as it will affect the final size of the hypertufa planter. Your finished planter will be a few sizes smallerthan the mold if you apply the 'tufa to the interior. And obviously larger than the mold if you apply it to the exterior. Either way works very well. Some of the "ready-made" mold choices that are acceptable for this project are:Cardboard boxesStyrofoam ice-chestsPlastic containers/plantersPlastic dish pansPlastic kitty litter pansFacilitator: John Passander (Past president of the CT Orchid Society, Honorarymember of the Greater New York Orchid Society, Member of the Westchester Orchid Roundtable, over 35 years greenhouse experience, Newtown Horticulture member) will teach you how to make your own planter.
