The Town of Newtown's Conservation Commission presents "Aliens Invade Newtown," an invasive plants seminar from 2-4pm Saturday, May 15, at the Newtown Municipal Center in council chambers. The workshop is free and open to all.
Seminar topics will cover identification of invasive plants and their effects on the native environment. Speakers will include information on bio-controls and suggestions on how to keep plants in check, while encouraging native plants.
"This seminar will help homeowners identify which invasive plants are found locally, with discussion on how to control them," said Ann Astarita, a conservation official.
