EverWonder Museum in Newtown to Reopen

The children's museum, which has been closed since August met a challenge grant goal to allow it to move ahead with its plan to reopen.

The EverWonder Children’s Museum in Newtown is expected to open this spring.

According to the Newtown News Times, the museum has been closed since August.

The museum announced last week that they met their $40,000 challenge grant goal from Jeniam Foundation and the EverWonder Board of Directors that makes it possible for the museum to go forward with a $80,000 plan to reopen the museum.

The museum, which focuses on the science, technology, engineering and mathematics field is geared towards children from toddlers to the age of 12, the News Times reports. The museum will be at the same address but will move to the other side of the building in a space three times bigger than the former venue.

Exhibits and activities at the museum will encourage children to use their critical thinking skills, the paper reports. Admission to the museum will be $7 per person and annual family memberships will be available for $120.

Museum officials told the paper they hope the museum will open by March 21.
