Fights And Firearms Top Newtown Police Blotter This Week

NEWTOWN, CT — Fights and firearms were atop the Newtown Police blotter this past week.

On June 10 at around 9:18 p.m., Newtown police officers were called to the Blue Colony Diner at 66 Church Hill Road for a report of suspicious activity and a "possible disturbance" between a man and woman. Following their arrival and investigation, police took Christopher Wallace, 38, of Bonnie Brae Drive, into custody.

Police charged Wallace with illegally carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was released from police custody after posting 7 percent of a $500 bond, and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on June 25.

On June 16at 9:45 p.m., police responded to a Church Hill Road residence for a report of a physical altercation. Following their investigation, police arrested Makai Coleman and charged him with breach of peace. Coleman was scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on July 2.

Shortly before 8 p.m. on June 17, a 19-year-old New Milford man driving a 2021 BMW M340i northbound on Hanover Road ran a stop sign at the Hanover Road intersection, according to police. There he hit a 21-year-old woman motorist from Taunton Lake Drive in Newtown, driving a 2012 Jeep Compass. The New Milford driver and his passenger were taken to Danbury Hospital to be treated for injuries. Police issued the driver an infraction for running the stop sign.
