Find Out Which Newtown Residents are Participating in the Boston Marathon
There are three local residents participating in the race this year.
It’s a rainy and chilly morning in Boston but the 119th Boston Marathon is underway.
Three Newtown residents are part of the group of runners making their way from from Hopkinton, Mass. to the finish line in Boston.
Cory R. Benson, 58, Kevin Hoyt, 24 and David A Oelberg 51 are local residents taking part in the 26-mile race.

Benson is participating in Wave 3, Hoyt is participating in Wave 1 and Oelberg is participating in Wave 2. All three waves kicked off between 10 and 11 a.m.
A post race party that begins at 6:30 p.m. will be held at Fenway Park.
