Fire On Main Street: Newtown Crews Extinguish Early Morning Blaze

A vehicle fire spread to a home and outbuilding on Main Street in Newtown early Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

NEWTON, CT — All five Newtown fire companies were dispatched after a vehicle fire spread to a home and outbuilding on Main Street early Tuesday morning.

The call came in at 5:21 a.m., Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company posted on Facebook.

Upon their arrival, first responders found all residents were out of the building.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the room above the garage as well as the attic above that, and by 7:13 a.m., all crews had returned to their station houses.
