FORESTER JEFF VISITS SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK

In our special weekend edition of “Ask the Arborist” Forester Jeff is traveling to Nashville, TN.  Today Forester Jeff is reporting to you on location from the” Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive”.  Shenandoah National Park was established in 1935 with the Skyline Drive being the only public road through the park.  Park planners wanted to establish a sky-line type drive on which motorists could enjoy a scenic leisurely drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Skyline Drive is open all year but can be closed unexpectantly because of bad weather and poor road conditions.  I attempted to access Skyline Drive back in January and was denied entrance because of snow conditions.  Remember Skyline drive is a mountain drive easily reaching summits over 3000ft.  I highly recommend taking a drive through the Shenandoah National   Park, be advised Skyline Drive has a maximum speed limit of 35MPH which is just right for enjoying the breath taking views.
