Head-On Crash Caused Newtown Road Closure, Injuries Reported: Police

Police said a driver crossed the center line on Wasserman Way, leading to a two-vehicle crash.

NEWTOWN, CT — A crash that prompted a road closure in Newtown Tuesday morning involved a head-on collision that left multiple people injured, according to police.

The two-vehicle crash occurred on Wasserman Way near Oakview Road around 7:57 a.m. on March 17, according to Newtown Police.

Police said one vehicle was traveling eastbound when the driver lost sight of the roadway and crossed over the double yellow center line into the westbound lane, striking another vehicle head-on.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and three people were taken to Danbury Hospital, police said.

Two individuals — including a passenger — suffered suspected serious injuries, while another driver sustained suspected minor injuries, according to the report.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene, police said.

Police issued an infraction to one of the drivers in connection with the crash.
