Heritage Park In Sandy Hook Village To Unveil With Free Concert

Rocking The Hook 2024 will be the first-ever concert to be held in Sandy Hook Village.

NEWTOWN, CT — The Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (S.H.O.P.) will host Rocking The Hook 2024 Concert, on Saturday, Sept. 28 from noon to 8:00 p.m.

It will be the first concert to be held within Heritage Park in Sandy Hook Village. The park includes a pavilion, 30 public parking places, and a green space that extends down to the Pootatuck River.

Admission is free, but a donation is suggested. Proceeds from the event will go towards S.H.O.P.'s fundraising efforts for the second phase of the project, the construction of The Sandy Hook Village Heritage Trail.

The event is family-friendly and includes activities like face-painting, a bounce house, and a visit from the Newtown Strong Therapy Dogs.

The live music will be provided by Blonde & Grey (noon – 1 p.m.) Dan's Garage Band (1:30 – 3 p.m.) Northern Bred Country Band (3:30 – 5:30 p.m.) and Green Eyed Lady (6 – 8 p.m.).

Food will be available from Dad's Grill and Rico Mac Taco, and also several establishments within walking distance. Bartenders will be serving beer from Newtown breweries NewSylum and Reverie, and wine from local vineyard Aquila's Nest.

Parking for the event has been reserved at the Newtown United Methodist Church.

Organizers will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the park at 3:00 p.m.
