#HonorWithAction Week in Remembrance of Newtown Shooting Victims

Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Elizabeth Esty took part in the beginning of the week yesterday.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Elizabeth Esty joined Newtown Action Alliance Monday to launch #HonorWithActionWeek in remembrance of the Sandy Hook Elementary School victims.

Esty and Blumenthal held a press conference and then read to kids at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA.

The Newtown Action Alliance encourages people to honor the victims with acts of kindness and by advocating for stronger measures to prevent gun violence. The two-year anniversary of the shooting that killed 20 children and six adults is this coming Sunday.

“The greatest act of kindness would be to finally pass comprehensive measures to stem the scourge of gun violence in our communities,” Blumenthal said on Facebook. “We will not give up that fight. But this week, let’s all join together and each engage in an act of community service in remembrance of those lost.”

Sen. Chris Murphy went around the state on Dec. 5 performing 26 random acts of kindness to honor the victims in his own way. He re-filled expiring parking meters in Bridgeport, dropped off some clothing at Goodwill, donated toys at the Chaz and AJ toy drive and bought pizzas for Hartford firefighters.
