Jimmy Greene Album Nominated for Grammy Award

A father who lost his daughter during the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting had his album nominated for a Grammy award.

Jimmy Greene’s album Beautiful Life was nominated for best jazz instrumental album. There are four other finalists.

The album is dedicated to his daughter Ana Márquez-Greene, who was one of 20 children killed during the shooting. Six adults died as well.

The album is Greene’s debut recording for Mack Avenue.

“I want to give a sense of how Ana lived,” Greene said in his online biography.

Greene is a Hartford native and many of his other releases have been met with critical acclaim.

The Ana Grace Project was created in honor of Ana.

It is a program of the Klingberg Family Centers non-profit. The center helps children and families who have been affected by trauma.
