Join Toni Mckeen as she tells the story of this famous immigrant, the unprecedented way he ran his newspaper, and the brave life of his employee the renown journalist Nellie Bly, who made her own headlines.
Nellie talked her way into the offices of Joseph Pulitzer's newspaper the New York World and took an undercover assignment to feign insanity, thus gaining access to investigate, first hand, reports of brutality and neglect at the Women's Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell's Island (now known as Roosevelt Island). The success of her assignment cemented her legacy, at the time, as the most famous female journalist in history.
