L.A. Times Explores Rise of Sandy Hook Truthers, Trump and Alex Jones
"In an age of 'alternative facts,' a massacre of schoolchildren is called a hoax," reports the L.A. Times.
SANDY HOOK, CT — At a time when town officials are drafting a letter to the President of the United States asking he denounce a well-known Sandy Hook Truther, a major national newspaper based thousands of miles away explored the recent prevalence of those who believe the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a hoax.
In a report published Friday, Barbara Demick of the L.A. Times dove deeper into the behavior of the Sandy Hook Truthers. Particularly, the story looked at the relationship between newly-minted President Donald Trump and well-known Sandy Hook Truther Alex Jones.
"But they have gained fresh momentum in the last several months, residents here say, at a time when conspiracy theorists across the country have attained the status of celebrities, and the nation as a whole is engaged in a contentious debate over the nature of truth," reports Demick.

The L.A. Times reported that the new president has yet to speak on the Dec. 14, 2012 shooting that resulted in the death of 20 children and six adults.
“Maybe it has nothing to do with Donald Trump, but somehow these hate creeps have been less shy about their beliefs,” Lenny Pozner, the father of six-year-old Noah Pozner, told the L.A. Times. “They’ve been emboldened.”
