NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown has 60 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus cases as of Friday.

Connecticut overall has reported 11,510 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19. along with 494 deaths and 1,593 people hospitalized as of Friday.

The Newtown Bee announced that it would temporarily suspend publishing its physical newspaper, but news will still be available on its website and social media accounts.

The municipal center and town buildings are no longer open to the public. Items can be left in the drop box at the tax collector's side of the building. Officials can be reached by phone or email.

The town has compiled a list of restaurants offering takeout and delivery. Patch is compiling a list of businesses that are open or closed in town. Business owners can add their information using a Google Form.

Newtown Schools

Schools will be closed until May 20 per Gov. Ned Lamont's executive order. Students are using Google Classroom to complete and submit assignments.
