"Ten years after the tragedy, an event like this should give us all hope and encouragement.

"A decade later, we have witnessed the resilience and strength of this amazing community each and every day. They have made it their community mission to help others and to improve lives. They have done this by connecting, by co-existing, and by mutually supporting. Their mission is about remembering while healing and moving forward. It's about connecting, re-connecting, and recovering along life's journey.

"The people of Newtown and Sandy Hook have spread the light of hope and kindness. They continue to spread that much-needed light.

"We can learn so much from them.
