Madrigal Feaste at Rock Ridge Country Club Sunday

The Madrigal Feaste is the major fundraiser for Newtown High School's choral department

This year’s Madrigal Feaste, sponsored  by the Newtown High School Choral Parents organization, will take place from 5 to 8 p.m., Sun., Nov. 13.

“This event is so much fun," organizer Susan Primavera said. "I have attended in years past. The music is beautiful, the atmosphere is very jovial and it really is a wonderful way to gather together and start the holiday season off with a lift to our spirits. We all need that this year!”

Under the direction of Newtown High School Choral Director, Jane Matson, the 17 members of the NHS Singers, an after-school audition group, will provide the entertainment for the evening.

The $25 ticket includes dinner, musical performances, and “whimisical performances.” The cost is $16 for ages 2 to 12.

There will also be a silent auction that includes items such as a round of golf for four from the Rock Ridge Country Club, a private performance by the NHS Singers, a gourmet four course dinner for six prepared by a personal chef in your home and a flowering tree planted in your yard.

There will be activities for the audience as well. For a $5 donation, members of the audience can send anyone they want into the "stocks" for public humiliation

“The Madrigal Dinner is a wonderfully funny and whimsical experience," NHS Choral Parents co-president Debbie Spanedda said. "It's a great opportunity to enjoy a performance by some of Newtown High School's most talented kids. I promise you won't be disappointed."

Tickets can be purchased by emailing madrigaltix@aol.com or calling Kris Aug at 203-364-9592. Reservations can be made for a table of eight or a partial table for less than eight. Tickets should be reserved by Friday.

All proceeds from the Madrigal Feaste will go to the Newtown High School Parents Scholarship Fund and Program Development.
