Magnet School Lottery Application Opens Jan. 1
The Academy for International Studies serves students from Newtown, Danbury, Redding, Brookfield, New Milford and New Fairfield.

Lottery applications for the Academy for International Studies (AIS) Magnet School lottery for students in grades K-5 will be open on Janu. 1, 2016.
The AIS Magnet School is hosted by Danbury Public Schools and serves Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown and Redding school districts.

The Western Connecticut Academy of International Studies Elementary Magnet School is located in Danbury on University Boulevard, adjacent to the Westside Campus of Western Connecticut State University.
According to the school’s website, the Academy for International Studies teaches students to:
“become socially responsible global citizens who use technology to access the world. An emphasis on International Studies and World Languages facilitates critical thinking and broadens mastery of the district curriculum. Our school community creates a supportive climate where students practice collaborative problem solving and understand other’s perspectives while valuing and respecting diversity. Students value that global citizenship begins with responsible citizenship in one’s own world.”
