Man Charged With Possession Of Child Pornography: Newtown PD

The investigation dates back to 2012, police said.

NEWTOWN, CT — A former Newtown man was charged by police with possession of child pornography.

Police went to Massachusetts Correctional Facility to serve the warrant on David Anderson, 51. He was held in lieu of $150,000 bail and is due in Connecticut court Friday. He was charged with first and third-degree possession of child pornography.

Police began investigating in 2012 after getting a complaint, said Lt. Aaron Bahamonde, police spokesman. Anderson was arrested in Massachusetts and served seven years in prison. The investigation crossed state lines into New York as well.

"Detectives did an excellent working with other state agencies, conducting computer forensics, and putting a case together to put this predator away" Bahamonde said. "Our community is made safer when individuals such as Anderson are identified and taken out."

First-degree possession of child pornography is a class B felony in Connecticut and carries a mandatory minimum of five years in prison if convicted.
