Man Charged In Sexual Assault After 5-Month Investigation: Newtown PD

NEWTOWN, CT — Police have charged a Southbury man with assault, following a lengthy investigation, the Newtown PD is reporting.

The Newtown Police Department Detective Bureau charged Justin Walsh, 46, of Purchase Brook Road, with third-degree sexual assault after Danbury Superior Court granted a warrant for his arrest, according to police.

The arrest on Wednesday ended "an exhaustive and tedious five month long investigation" by Newtown Det. Chelsea Harold, police officials said.

Walsh was held on a $40,000 bond before being transferred to Danbury Superior Court for arraignment.

"Sexual Assault investigations are notoriously difficult cases to investigate. Victims of sexual assault are always treated with the utmost respect, privacy and confidentiality, and if anyone feels they have been a victim of sexual assault, we encourage them to contact their local police department and report the incident as soon as possible," Lt. Liam Seabrook wrote on the report.
